Cycling in style on high fashion wheels. Bikes and fashion have not always paired well; that is, until recently. Bicycles are fast becoming the undeniable pinnacle of urban chic everywhere around the world, from Paris to New York.
This new must-have trend was celebrated on June 6th at the third edition of the Velo Vogue Bicycle Fashion Show in Ottawa, proudly presented by Opus Bike. The event took place at the Maker Space North warehouse in a vibrant setting. Bike tires painted in sparkling colors hanging from the ceiling set the tone, along with the illuminated drapes framing the runway where many models strut down with colourful bikes. Singer Noah Venkatarangam also performed on stage to get the guests moving.
The event was the perfect occasion for Opus to introduce its Classico city bike line’s six new sunny shades: coral, red, mint green, sky blue, apple green and cream. Opus has once again managed to offer fashion’s latest statement piece in must-have colours that will appeal to every fashionista.
On-site, guests could enjoy a refreshment at the Velo Bar, bid at the Auction Alley, or buy a chocolate bar for a chance to win a Classico bike in a contest for which all proceeds went to the Right Bike foundation. Indeed, far from being stricktly a runway show, the Velo Vogue Bicycle Fashion Show supports Right Bike’s noble cause: to provide jobs and training for individuals in the Ottawa area who are trying to overcome employment barriers.
Showcasing the incredible creations of local and international designers and shops was another goal achieved by the Velo Vogue Bicycle Fashion Show organizers.
